Insectary rows are planted throughout the vineyard to encourage beneficial insect growth to help combat undesired insects and increase biodiversity in the vineyards. This mix includes California Poppy, blue bell, coriander and different varieties of clover, crimson, Persian and rose among a few. #vineyard#vineyardvines #watchthevineyardgrow

In addition to composting, we also seed different

In addition to composting, we also seed different cover crops for different purposes throughout the property. A mixture of legume, peas beans barley and oats are planted to produce organic matter and fix nitrogen into a useable form for the vines. In addition, daikon radishes are also planted to help break up soil structure and increase drainage. #vineyard#vineyardvines #watchthevineyardgrow

Following each harvest during the winter months our vineyard team spreads 5 tons per acre of premium organic compost by hand in the Grigsby vineyard. This work helps replenish the soil after each growing season, improve water holding capacity and improves the physical, chemical and biological health of our soil.
